“For a long time handicraft has been the essence of my work; it takes me faraway, to unknown places, and connects me with people and cultures that I don’t know. To work with it makes me more open, it brings me closer to a global world and a local environment at the same time. Above all, it gives me the opportunity to continue learning.

This obsession with handicrafts has made me a more perceptive person. As these encounters always happen, I got to know Ediciones Jalapa by chance. When I saw the pieces for the first time I couldn’t stop observing them: they captivated me. There were tables, stools and other objects of different sizes, forms, colors and textures. All of them awoke in me an emotion evoked only by handicraft-made objects.

This way, the designers explained to me the vision of their project. They talked about the work made in palm and described every detail of the way that the handicraftsmen from Guerrero, with their hands, were creating their designs little by little. Suddenly everything unified: the design, the handicraft and my desire to put together these two concepts.

The result is shown in these pieces: a great example of how handicraft becomes a design’s elemental factor. All this under the umbrella of the highly creative handicraftsmanship of this country. ”
